Started with his father's camera.
Jamal Du-Barry grew up fascinated by his father's camera and became the family's unofficial videographer long before anyone paid him. As an adult he filmed events and posted the clips for fun, until people started asking him to shoot for them.
He began taking paid work in 2018 and registered the business as LightBrush Media in 2020. Based in Port of Spain, the studio focuses on portraits, headshots, concept shoots and personal-branding video, with maternity, pet and milestone sessions alongside.

That experience is the point. Every session starts with a conversation, then a mood board, wardrobe styling and a set chosen for the story. Clients have cried when they saw their final photos and film. Jamal wants every person in front of his lens to feel seen and valued.
He also gives time back to the community, including free professional headshots as a volunteer photographer at workshops for people building their careers.
